CMA CGM announced the launching, end of November 2008, of a new weekly service linking South America East Coast to North Europe: The SAFRAN service.
This new service will deploy 6 vessels of 2 800 teus each (5 CMA CGM and 1 MARUBA).
Rotation will be as follows:
Rotterdam / Hamburg / Antwerp / Le Havre / Salvador de Bahia or Suape (every other week) / Santos / Buenos Aires / Montevideo / Rio Grande / Itajaí / Paranagua / Rio de Janeiro / Tangier/ Rotterdam.
"This new service enables CMA CGM to further develop its capacity on this dynamic trade, both northbound, with refrigerated transport from Brazil to Europe, and southbound, thanks to growing imports on the East Coast of South America" explains Jean-Yves Duval, Deputy Vice-President Latin America Lines.
This new service will include a weekly stop at Tangier on the road from South America to North Europe, offering new opportunities from the East Coast of South America to the Persian Gulf and Africa thanks to direct connections on other CMA CGM lines.
The first vessel to be deployed on SAFRAN will be the CMA CGM VIOLET, scheduled to leave Rotterdam on November 27th.
