Evergreen and COSCON split ESA service into separate South African and South
American services.
Evergreen and Cosco Container Lines(COSCON) are to split their current ESA
service, which links Asia, South Africa and the East Coast of South America
in order to create two, new upgraded services - a new ESA service between
the Far East and South America and FAX, a new, enhanced Far East - South
Africa service.
The ESA service will now provide faster transit times between major ports in
the Far East and destinations in South America while the new FAX service
will provide the direct calls to the major ports of Central China and
Southern China. The revised ESA schedule will now deploy nine vessels of
2,800TEU. Evergreen will provide six of the nine vessels and COSCON three.
The port rotation on the revised ESA service is as follows :
Shanghai - Ningbo - Yantian - Hong Kong - Singapore - Tanjung Pelepas -
Santos - Montevideo - Buenos Aires - Santos - Singapore - Hong Kong -
Shanghai.
The new FAX service will consist of eight 3,400 TEU vessels. Five will be
operated by Evergreen and three by COSCON.
The port rotation on the new FAX service is as follows :
Shanghai - Kaohsiung - Hong Kong - Yantian - Singapore - Tanjung Pelepas -
Durban - Cape Town - Singapore - Hong Kong - Kaohsiung - Shanghai.
The first sailing from Shanghai on the revised ESA service will be provided
by Evergreen's CORDELIA on May 15, while the first FAX sailing from Shanghai
will be provided by Evergreen's EVER GUEST on May 18.
