Maersk Sealand and P&O Nedlloyd assume a new identity starting operations under the name Maersk Line.
As of 12 February 2006, Maersk Sealand and P&O Nedlloyd will trade as Maersk Line. The group will launch the new Maersk Line network, a new visual identity, and www.maersksealand.com will change its name to www.maerskline.com featuring a new design. P&O Nedlloyd has withdrawn from specified conferences and consortia. P&O Nedlloyd Logistics and Maersk Logistics will trade under the brand name Maersk Logistics.
Existing digital certificates will also work on www.maerskline.com, it will not be necessary to register for a new digital certificate to keep client access to online business services. On-line business services will work same way as before, only colours and minor layout details will change.
Clients entering www.maersksealand.com after 12 February will automatically be redirected to www.maerskline.com.
During the coming months Maersk Line will gradually migrate all P&O Nedlloyd vessels from their previous services to build the new enhanced Maersk Line route network. For each load port there will be a "cut-over" vessel (the first vessel nominated for each trade route or service). All bookings and documentation will be switched to Maersk Line on the cut-over sailings.
The Company announced a number of recomendations to shippers, between others:
- No matter if a consignment is booked and confirmed on a P&O Nedlloyd voyage, or the booking is confirmed as being on a Maersk Sealand/Maersk Line voyage, then subsequent documentation and queries should be via Maersk Line.
- Clients should register with maerskline.com (today maersksealand.com). For the ones not already registered, it is important to register soon to ensure continuity of e-business activities.
- Many transactions and queries, such as quotations and milestones, will be processed more quickly and efficiently via Maersk Line's e-business solutions.
- Local representative can be contacted to negotiate a new Maersk Line contract.
- It is recommended to always quote the new contract number whenever is make a booking.
- Visit maersksealand.com (as of 12 February maerskline.com) to obtain information on new schedules.
Regarding LCL (less than container load) policy which Maersk Sealand is not accepting today, P&O Nedlloyd and Maersk Sealand will maintain their own LCL policies until February 2006. Hereafter, a policy for the acceptance will be developed in cooperation with Maersk Logistics, who today offers LCL services on behalf of Maersk Sealand.
Maersk Sealand and P&O Nedlloyd will honour terms already agreed upon until the expiry of those terms. Maersk Line will renegotiate contracts at the earliest convenient time so that they are compatible with the future Maersk Line principles and charges. The aim is to establish only one Maersk Line agreement from February 2006 and onwards.
The b/l (bill of lading) will be changed to show Maersk Line in February 2006 when the two companies start trading under the brand name of Maersk Line. There are no fundamental material differences between the bs/l of the two companies. However, customers who receive a P&O Nedlloyd b/l will be subject to the terms of that b/l. The bs/l are not interchangeable. Only a P&O Nedlloyd b/l can be issued against a P&O Nedlloyd booking, and the same applies to Maersk Sealand.
The companies will be operating as before the acquisition and the approach with INTTRA will remain unchanged.
