KWE (Kintetsu World Express) has announced that it has become a member of the GF-X Exchange, the world's leading airfreight reservations system. KWE has agreed to use GF-X in Europe, Middle East & Africa with Germany as the first country to roll-out and with further locations to follow in the near future.

The number of forwarders and carriers joining GF-X has been increasing rapidly with 20 new forwarder members and 8 new carriers joining over the past 12 months alone. Carriers do not want to be left behind in the race for electronic bookings. GF-X is attracting a growing number of carriers; SAA Cargo is the 10th carrier to join during the last year and brings the total number of GF-X carrier member organisations to 20.

Previously, Maersk Logistics also joined Global Freight Exchange (GF-X). Initially, they will use GF-X for its key export markets, but the aim is to roll out the system across its global network.
Mr. Søren K. Brandt, Maersk Logistics' Managing Director says: "We have first hand experience of the benefits of electronic reservations through our interaction with the ocean booking portal INTTRA. We are now looking to achieve the same advantages for our customers with air cargo and believe that the GF-X system will provide us with the best opportunity."
South African Airways (SAA), Cargo has announced also that it has joined the GF-X Exchange. SAA Cargo expects to start receiving electronic bookings through the GF-X Exchange initially out of South Africa and ultimately SAA Cargo's entire network will be available on the GF-X Exchange.
George Mellett, Acting Vice President of SAA Cargo commented: "We have done a thorough investigation into electronic booking systems and found that the GF-X Exchange, both from a technical and business perspective, best satisfies the needs of SAA Cargo. We believe our own staff as well as our forwarder customers will be able to benefit from our participation on the GF-X Exchange."
