Aliança announced launch of a Second Coastal String in the East Coast of South América.


Aliança announced the launch of a second coastal string with Intrépido and Independente. Parallel to the already existing 5 ship "main string", which covers the main ports between Manaus and Montevideo, this second string will be a back up of the main string and will also provide calls at Vila do Conde and Vitória.

Vila do Conde is one of the two ports of Belém city. The port is situated at the Amazon estuary and 120 km north from the 1.7 million inhabitant city. At Belém it is mainly exported wood, nuts and shrimps and it is imported all possible consumer goods.

With over 130,000 teus volumes throughput per year Vitória is the 7th largest Brazilian port. Main exports are coffee, paper and steel products and due to its unique import tax benefit regulation (Fundap) consumer goods and/or high value products are imported to Vitória.

The two 650 teu ships will call fortnightly: Santos, Sepetiba, Vitória, Salvador, Suape, Fortaleza, Vila do Conde (Belém), Fortaleza, Salvador, Vitória, Santos. Both vessels have Ro/Ro capacity i.e means self propelled and project cargos can be accepted subject to prior consultation with the Cabotage department in São Paulo.

Apart from offering comprehensive South America coverage, Aliança, member of the Hamburg Sud group is actively engaged in many key international trades including the Caribbean, North America, Europe and the Far East. Their coastal service coverage spans a total of 13 Brazilian ports: Rio Grande (RS), Itajaí (SC), São Francisco do Sul (SC), Paranaguá (PR), Santos (SP), Sepetiba (RJ), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Salvador (BA), Suape (PE), Fortaleza (CE), Pecém (CE), Belém (PA) and Manaus (AM).
