Wallenius Wilhelmsen has introduced two new service rotations in its South America trade lane. The new services now enable Wallenius Wilhelmsen to offer two sailings per month to and from South America.
The carrier's current South America service is comprised of three Roll-On, Roll-Off (Ro-Ro) vessels, each with an average capacity of 50,000 cubic meters. Capable of carrying Ro-Ro, breakbulk, heavy lift and automobiles, the vessels have a ramp capacity of up to 400 tons and an average deck height of up to 6 meters.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen is a global specialist in ocean, inland and supply chain solutions, operating over 60 modern vessels and 600 vehicle transporters. The carrier has close to 3,000 employees across five continents.
Gordon Hammer, Wallenius Wilhelmsen's General Manager for the South America Trade commented, "This gives us a much stronger, more stable product, and allows us to offer regular frequency to base ports in South and Central America and the U.S. Gulf."
The first new service is a "Regular" Ro-Ro service between Brazil, Venezuela, Panama, Mexico and the U.S. Gulf and is 36 days in duration. The second new service is a "Shuttle" service between Brazil, Venezuela, Panama, and Colombia. The shuttle service's round trip is approximately 28 days.
The port rotation on the "Regular" service is as follows: Rio Grande, Brazil; Santos, Brazil; Puerto Cabello, Venezuela; Manzanillo, Panama; Altamira, Mexico; Galveston, Texas; and then back to Rio Grande. Other ports such as Vitoria and Itaqui in Brazil will be serviced on an inducement basis.
The "Shuttle" service rotation is Rio Grande, Brazil; Santos, Brazil; Puerto Cabello, Venezuela; Manzanillo, Panama; Cartagena, Colombia; and return to Rio Grande. Through its hub in Manzanillo, Wallenius Wilhelmsen can transship to the U.S. East and West Coasts, Central America, Caribbean, Australia, Japan and Korea.
