The Santiago office, is the first step in a larger plan to expand in the region. According to Rune Andreassen, Barwil's Senior Vice-President Americas, Barwil is currently preparing to open additional offices in Peru and Ecuador. The office in Santiago will coordinate Barwil services in the following ports; Arica, Iquique, Antofagasta, Caldera, Tocopilla, Coquimbo, Huayco, Valparaíso, Quintero, San Antonio, Concepcion Bay, San Vincente, Coronel, Corral, Puerto Montt, Ancud / Laitec, Punta Arenas and Puerto Williams.

According to Andreassen, the Santiago office will provide both Freight & Logistics and Port & Marine Services to the region. In addition, the office will increase Barwil's capability to handle financial transactions on behalf of their customers trading in the region. "Many of our customers operate in this area and we recognized a demand to establish a reliable network of Barwil services," he says. "We have to be where our customers are."
