American´s Cargo Division announced the launch of online booking on its AACargo.com Web site. Online booking allows any AA Cargo customer to sign in for booking access to the American Airlines global air freight network any time, from anywhere. Customers can quickly search for capacity, choose a flight, book their shipment with a click, and then track the shipment through to its destination. The system also saves the shipment parameters, making future and recurring shipments easy to manage.

"Online booking on AACargo.com is simple and intuitive, and easy to use," said Dave Brooks, president of American Airlines Cargo. "With online booking in the mix, our customers can streamline the entire shipping process from beginning to end and customize an air cargo management system that fits their operation."

The booking technology is powered by Global Freight Exchange (GF-X), and complements AA´s participation in the London-based online exchange. While other carriers participate in GF-X, American Airlines Cargo is the first carrier to utilize the technology in creating a booking platform on its own Web site.

"American Airlines benefits from the proven technology and security the Exchange provides," said Brooks. "In addition, existing GF-X customers who are familiar with the GF-X interface can work in an environment that they are accustomed to."

AACargo.com also provides industry-leading shipment tracking and status notification updates that can be personalized and sent to a preferred electronic device.
