Hamburg Süd announced improvements in the structure and port rotation of its two liner services between Asia and the West Coast of South America / North America and Mexico.
This optimization will benefit the "Asian Express Service" and the so-called "AMPAC Service".
The "Asia Express Service", which connects Asia with the West Coast of South America and Mexico, will no longer call at Long Beach (USA). This will greatly improve transit times to Mexico and South American West Coast ports and will also spare customers the inconvenience of the 24 hour manifest rule - AMS.
The new "Asia Express Service" has the following weekly fixed-day port rotation: Yokohama-Keelung (fortnightly) - Hong Kong - Ningbo - Shanghai - Pusan - Manzanillo (Mexico) - Guayaquil - Callao - Iquique - Antofagasta (fortnightly) - Valparaiso - Lirquen - Callao/Paita (alternately) - Yokohama.
With the northbound rotation, the company is focusing in particular on the requirements of its refrigerated cargo customers from Chile, who are interested in the shortest possible crossing to the important markets in Japan and Hong Kong.
In a parallel move, Hamburg Süd, in association with its partners, has optimized the so-called "AMPAC Service" - which links Asia with West Canada, US West Coast, Mexico and Central / South America. The previously deployed fleet of ten vessels has been expanded to eleven units, which will greatly improve schedule reliability and will guarantee a weekly fixed-day service.
