Lufthansa Cargo launches "cd.Solutions" - a new product line customer-direct service.
Lufthansa Cargo is launching a new product line "cd.Solutions" at the end of October. These airfreight solutions are tailormade to meet customer needs beyond airport-to-airport transportation. "cd" stands for "customer-definite ", reflecting Lufthansa Cargo's aim of supplying high-quality products to meet the individual logistics requirements of forwarders and shippers.
cd.Solutions consists of a variety of service modules, which further enhance the benefits of the product range already offered by Lufthansa Cargo. They encompass three distinct modes of direct delivery and a module for packaging solutions. On a shipment's availability at the destination airport, customers can opt to have it delivered to their warehouse within two hours, or have it delivered at a time they themselves specify or stored for delivery "on call". In the latter case, the customers remains flexible and can call up or order delivery whenever the shipment is required. Customers themselves handle customs formalities at their own warehouse.
The packaging solutions come in the shape of new-type transport containers that are made of lighter-weight yet extremely stable and water-repellent corrugated cardboard. A variety of packaging models are available, some of which are customised for specific industries; they are easy and safe to handle and offer cost-benefits to customers.
The new "customer-definite" solutions from Lufthansa Cargo will be offered at the end of October 2003 to forwarders and end-customers with large, regular logistics flows. They will initially be available for cargo shipped ex Asia through the Frankfurt hub into Europe. In early 2004, cd.solutions will be available for all shipments destined for Europe from around the world. The packaging solutions will be offered to all Lufthansa Cargo customers in Asia, the Americas and Europe at the end of October.
With the new product line, Lufthansa Cargo is responding to a global market trend. "Our aim is to contribute towards optimisation of goods flows around the globe," said Lufthansa Cargo Board Member for Marketing and Sales Dr. Andreas Otto. "cd.Solutions constitute an industry-wide, outstanding product line for forwarders and end-customers, which ideally slot into a time- and product-optimised supply chain management concept. Their launch enhances the customer focus of our core business."
Lufthansa Cargo operates in a global network encompassing more than 450 destinations; in tandem with partners in the WOW air cargo alliance, serving more than 520 destinations around the world.
