Iberia Cargo has selected to join Global Freight Exchange (GF-X), the electronic booking system for Air Cargo. Iberia Cargo is the fourth airline to opt for this system in the past four months, and raises to fifteen the number of carriers using the system. Iberia Cargo and GF-X are now working together on the implementation of the system so that it can enter service at Iberia Cargo offices around the world as soon as possible.

Iberia Cargo is at the forefront of electronic solutions for air freight operations, and currently uses the Cargo Agents Distribution and Information System (CADIS) in Spain. Soledad Santiago, Vice President for Cargo Iberia commented: "Iberia Cargo studied all available options before choosing GF-X, which we found to be the most sophisticated electronic reservations system on the market.

The new system will be much easier for freight agents to use than CADIS, which it will gradually replace. The GF-X system will complement the work Iberia Cargo is doing with the Cargo Community System (CCS), in the area of electronic messaging. We hope that the GF-X system will become the channel of choice for freight agents working with Iberia Cargo."

The addition of Iberia Cargo strengthens GF-X's position in southern Europe, where the system is already used in Spain, Portugal and Italy. Iberia Cargo also stands to benefit from the implementation of GF-X in the Latin American market, where freight agents will have immediate access to Iberia Cargo through GF-X.
