AMERICAN AIRLINES ANNOUNCES PLANS TO LAUNCH ELECTRONIC BOOKING FOR CARGO SHIPMENTS ON AACargo.com

American Airlines Cargo division announced plans to launch online booking on its AACargo.comSM Web site early next year. The electronic booking capability will be available on the Web site to all AA Cargo customers, and will be powered by Global Freight Exchange (GF-X). The booking function will give cargo customers immediate access to AA's cargo capacity any time of day, from anywhere in the world.

"Our forwarder, perishable, courier and other customer groups worldwide have been asking us to add an electronic booking solution on AACargo.com," said Dave Brooks, president American Airlines Cargo division. "While this is
still a people business, our customers are looking for no-cost solutions over the Web to improve their productivity. Online booking, especially when used in conjunction with other features like shipment tracking and proactive notification of shipment status, can have a synergistic effect on productivity for all of us."

AACargo.com's online booking function will be an enhancement of the existing GF-X Exchange platform and will be the first dedicated carrier solution developed by GF-X.

Demetrios Zoppos, managing director of GF-X said, "We are very pleased with the opportunity to cooperate with AA Cargo on this project. This development will complement AA Cargo's participation in the GF-X Exchange by offering the ability to transact electronically with AA Cargo to a wider base of customers. This will help increase electronic transactions within the industry."

GF-X provides a neutral reservations system for the airfreight industry. AA's online booking for Cargo shipments on AACargo.com will provide AA customers with access to AA Cargo capacity on the AACargo.com site. AA Cargo will continue to market its offering through the existing GF-X platform.

GF-X (www.gfx.com) is the premier reservations system for the airfreight industry. The GF-X system has been operational since October 2000, and clients include most of the world's major airlines and freight forwarders. GF-X allows carrier and forwarder users to free up time from routine tasks and focus more on the individual needs of customers. GF-X maintains information such as schedules, capacity and rates and interfaces with carrier systems to complete transactions. Bookings have been increasing steadily since GF-X went live to over 600,000 transactions per annum. For more information visit www.gfx.com.
