CMA CGM / CSAV announced new alliance on the Far East, South Africa and South America East Coast route.

Following the disbanding of the "GOOD HOPE EXPRESS" pendulum service linking Asia, South Africa and South America East Coast, CMA CGM and CSAV decided to join forces to run a new fixed day weekly service by their own with 10 ships of around 2.000 Teu on the same route.

CMA CGM, who was only before slot charterer on the GHEX, will now provide two vessels for the new service, named ASAX, which already started in Asia in direct continuation of late GHEX as from mid July 2003.

Rotation is : Shanghaï / Moji / Nagoya / Yokohama / Hong Kong / Singapore / Durban / Rio de Janeiro / Santos / Paranagua / Itajaï / Rio Grande / Buenos Aires (TS) / Singapore / Hong Kong / Shanghaï.

With this new development on a route linking two of its major markets, i.e. Asia and South America, CMA CGM will be able to improve its global offer to its customers for dry and reefer cargo.
