Lufthansa Cargo boosts revenue with Global Partners to 40% - Partners continue to build on intensive cooperation and stronger growth.


"Lufthansa Cargo's Global Partnership Program has become a solid platform for stability and growth. The share of revenue earned by our Global Partners increased by 54% between 1998 and 2002, and we now generate 40% of our business with this group of customers. Furthermore, we sell 37% of our premium products to our eight Global Partners – and the trend is rising." With those words Dr. Andreas Otto, member of the Lufthansa Cargo Executive Board responsible for Marketing and Sales, began his vote of thanks to the company's Global Partners.

Lufthansa's Global Partners are eight leading international air freight forwarders:

- Exel
- Kühne&Nagel
- UTi
- Hellmann
- DHL Danzas Air & Ocean
- Schenker
- Panalpina
- Geologistics.

The aim of the Global Partnership Program is for the companies to grow together, to create synergy effects in sales, lower transaction costs and drive progress in areas of key importance for the sector, such as the automisation of business processes. "Furthermore, the intensive collaboration between Lufthansa Cargo and its Global Partners naturally benefits the end-users in the industry," said Michael Vorwerk, Vice President Global Accounts and Business Partners at Lufthansa Cargo.

In his address to the Global Partner Council, Klaus Herms, Chief Executive Officer of Kühne&Nagel, explained the importance of this type of partnership programme for his business: "In such difficult times for the global economy and world politics as we are seeing now, it is especially important to have a good partnership with a carrier. Only by jointly exploiting all the synergy effects can the partners benefit and together grow their business, as we are doing with Lufthansa Cargo."
