Maersk Sealand moves their UK operations in the NWC - South American Service from port of Felixstowe to Thamesport (London).

Thamesport (London) Limited welcomed the first call of the Maersk Sealand South American Service on Thursday 24th April 2003, with the arrival of the 3,700 TEU "LUNA MAERSK".

The service connects North Europe and the Mediterranean with major ports in South America, and offers a weekly schedule maintained by six Maersk-owned "L-Class" vessels: "Laura Maersk" - "Laust Maersk" - "Leda Maersk" - "Lexa Maersk" - "Lica Maersk" and "Luna Maersk".

The port rotation, based on fixed days of the week port calls, is:

Thamesport - Bremerhaven - Antwerp - Le Havre - Vigo - Algeciras - Sepetiba - Santos - Paranagua - Buenos Aires - Montevideo - Rio Grande - Santos - Pecem

Commenting on the new service, Thamesport Director, Richard Pearson, said:

"We are delighted to welcome yet another new service to Thamesport. This will be the first direct service from the port to South America and represents an important addition to the range of destinations we can offer shippers through Thamesport."
