TT Club launches transport security compliance check.
In the wake of growing US and international legislation relating to transport security, TT Club, the international transport and logistics provider of insurance and related risk management services, unveiled a unique self-analysis tool enabling TT Members to ensure they become and remain compliant with these essential regulations. Accessed through the TT Club website, the interactive service is fast and free to registered users.
As a result, TT Members can now identify areas within their business processes that may be falling foul of the increasingly stringent and complex regulations being implemented, particularly by the US government, in the search for greater protection from the threat of terrorist attacks.
"This initiative will immediately benefit Members worldwide who trade with the United States, or whose cargo is carried on ships transiting US ports," commented Andrew Webster, TT Club's London-based loss prevention manager.
Over its 35-year history as the leading transport liability mutual, TT Club has a respected tradition of providing high quality risk management and loss prevention advice to its Members.
In mid-November 2002 TT sponsored a well-attended seminar "Security Matters" in London. Though designed primarily for the ports industry, delegate feedback convinced the Club of a broader desire from across its membership for further professional guidance.
The result is a web-based interactive self-analysis toolkit, supported by a comprehensive database of the latest regulations, which enables Members to perform a critical self-assessment of their compliance readiness. The analysis tool is accessed via the online services section of the TT Club's website and requires Members to register for access.
"The secure online services area is an extremely interesting part of the TT Club's site, containing both Member-specific information and detailed loss prevention and risk management information. We encourage Members to register so that they can access this range of services, designed specifically for the international transport and logistics sector," said Mr Webster. Depending on their individual analyses, Members then have the option of determining and implementing necessary corrective measures themselves, or seeking further advice from their local TT Club office. Where appropriate, the Club can put Members in touch with reputable external security consultants for specialist assistance.
The TT Club is the international transport and logistics industry's leading provider of insurance and related risk management services. Established in 1968, the Club's membership comprises ship operators, ports and terminals, road, rail and airfreight operators, logistics companies and container lessors. The TT Club insures 70% of the world's container fleet, over 2,000 port/terminal operations, over 4,000 transport and logistics operations and has offices in 23 locations worldwide.
