FIATA, the "International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations", has announced their FIATA World Congress 2001, which will be held from October 13th to 17th 2001 in Cancun, Mexico. This Congress will coincide with the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of FIATA.

The congress will take place at the " Cancun Convention Center", which compliments the beauty of this place with all the necessary facilities for a successful Congress. This opportunity, the host will be AMACARGA, The Mexican Freight Forwarders Association.

A programme has been developed and will cover many issues relating to various sectors of the freight forwarding industry. A commercial exhibition will run in conjunction with the FIATA World Congress 2001, offering exhibiting companies the opportunity to showcase their products and services to an International audience of highly focused delegates.

FIATA, a non-governmental organization, founded in Vienna/Austria on May 31, 1926 represents today an industry covering approx. 40,000 forwarding firms, also known as the "Architects of Transport". They are based in Zurich.

It is recognized as representing the freight forwarding industry by many other governmental organizations, governmental authorities, private international organizations in the field of transport such as the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Union of Railways (UIC), the International Road Transport Union (IRU), the World Customs Organization (WCO), etc.

Each year, FIATA holds a World Congress. This international event brings together the freight forwarding industry and transport world.
