MOL to Improve Asia - South Africa and South America Service
MOL plans to upgrade its Asia-South Africa service by developing two existing trunk lines (CSW - Asia-East Coast South America service and CWA - Asia-West Africa Super Express), starting in April 2002.
Using these two loops to create a more effective port call rotation, MOL will be able to offer a wider range of services to and from all of southern Africa, including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Swaziland, Namibia, Lesotho, Zambia, and Botswana. In addition, the frequency of service will be increased to twice a week from the current weekly schedule, and transit time will be about a week faster.
In line with the implementation of these service upgrades, inaugurated with the MOL Parana sailing from Yokohama on April 4, the SAFARI consortium that currently serves the Japan, Asia-South Africa trade will be disbanded at the end of March 2002 by unanimous agreement of all members.
This realignment demonstrates MOL's ongoing commitment to deliver a wide range of top-quality services with adequate sized vessels that meet customers' demands in Asia, Japan, Southern Africa, West Africa, and the East Coast of South America
