APL and APL Logistics again recognized for "IT Excellence"

APL and APL Logistics have again climbed in the rankings of InformationWeek magazine's top 500 list for IT excellence, the third year they have appeared in this prestigious ranking of the largest and most innovative users of information technology.

APL and APL Logistics, jumped to 57th place of 500 from number 72 last year. In 2000, the first year they were included, they were ranked 456th.

"Companies named to this list demonstrate a pattern of technological, procedural and organizational innovation," said Rusty Weston, editor of InformationWeek Research.

APL Chief Information Officer, Cindy Stoddard said the improved InformationWeek ranking was particularly pleasing in that it reflected the company's strategic commitment to IT excellence and its extensive
application to solve complex distribution challenges for customers. She said that despite a tough business environment, the company continued to strengthen its IT platform.

"While we continue to offer traditional customer-support options, our customers are increasingly demanding IT solutions which help them save time, reduce costs and ultimately improve their bottom line," Stoddard said. "We see IT as a key differentiator. Any system that makes us more efficient also provides an advantage for our customers" she said.

Over the past twelve months, APL Logistics (APLL) has further refined and innovated its IT tools, developing See Change Services which allows even easier management of inventory as it moves through the supply chain.

"APLL's high-tech approach to supply chain management is an excellent example of how technological innovation can be used to help businesses grow and prosper. Through technology and new IT network management practices, we are able to add efficiencies and cost savings for the company and our
customers," said Mike Moore, Chief Information Officer of APL Logistics.
